Ian the weather's looking pretty cold, I'll probably leave my 32 jacket and thinner pants at home and just bring my warmest gear. :-|

It looks Like our newest member Casey777 finally got back to his snowboarding roots recently… Here’s some video he forwarded me... using his iPhone to film his TV.

Look at this maniac.

exarte423 dropping a black moguled out run to the main area the first day...

Image

The main halfpipe on the way to the top of the Vista Express... Then, mister 423 at the top looking off into the so-so weather we had on Saturday... About 100 yards down the slope was an ice skating rink size patch of ice that was pretty much un-avoidable unless you went far right like we did on day 2. :-|

Image
Image

exarte423 on his way to hit a drop off... There were so many natural features to ride at Mt Hood Meadows I was stoked everywhere I went. :heh:

Image
Image

Thats exarte423 way down there past the 2nd tier.

Image

The sikk stikz.

Image
Image

Late in the day I took a wrong turn down a whooped out black run . :realmad: Had to un-clip and hike it to avoid going down into a ravine to get to the bottom without getting stuck.

Image

Main lodge on Friday.

Image

Ended Saturday with some tree runs... So awesome we planned to get right back to it the next day.

Day 2 MtHood Meadows... exarte423 said this was the best overall conditions he's ever had here, mainly because of the weather which was mostly sunny with no wind... Here's a few shots of MtHood as we made the hour plus drive towards it... Its cool because you can see it the whole way from downtown Portland and it's so big it looks like you'll be there in 20-30 minutes.

Image

Image

First thing we did was work our way towards a zone we never rode the first day accessed by the Shooting Start express chair... This is looking down into the area once we rode the chair up the first time... exarte423 getting some down below... We went down the groomer run and then dropped into those rough black slopes on the left where I snapped the 2nd photo of exarte423 chillin.

Image
Image

Riding the shooting star express chair up again we went skiier/riders left off the top and rolled up on the perimeter of the resort which holds some of the areas double black runs into Heather and Clark Canyons... Most of the runs across the way are accessed via hiking, and we did spot some people looking like ants coming down the massive slope.

Image
Image
Image
Image

After we railed that zone we went back to the area slightly lower on the mountain where we had been doing tree runs the day before... We took some cool video clips I'll post later, but you can get an idea of just how rad it was from these photos... so many lines everywhere we ran off through the trees.

Image
Image
Image

This was one of the several natural halfpipe chutes we rode... this one was fairly shallow through the woods, but others were pretty deep... nearly all of them were much tighter and more technical than the ones I rode at Kirkwood in Tahoe earlier in the season.... exarte423 about to rip it... so sikk looking. :allgood:

Image

Headed back to the main area after that and rode some groomers as well as some of the ravines... The last shot reminded us of a freeride hit out in the hills of Beaumont.

Image
Image
Image

Here's a 2 shot Pano of the shot above... notice how vert the slope is just past where exarte423 is sitting.

http://www.exarteproductions.com/images ... e_Pano.jpg

More images as we made our way back to the opposite end of the resort we had ridden the first day...

Image
Image

This is the other end of the resort we took some photos in the day before, which is comparatively pretty flat, but had some very cool natural features and jumps... Wish I had taken more close ups, but we were having too much fun riding, and were pretty pist when a lot of the upper Mtn. chairs began closing early. :realmad: I think thats Mt.Jefferson in the background there.

Image

I'll finish this trip's recap off with a large panoramic shot I took on that far side of the resort... This image will stay burned in my mind forever... Such a perfect day in every way. :2up:

You can see it listed on the trailmap link below… Wonder where exactly this kid got into trouble riding Heather Canyon… So fu*king sketch, I knew I didnt wanna go down in there… Off a cliff into a buried creek for Christ sake. :realmad:

Actually it was pretty nice. Def. plenty warm with a proper jacket on...in fact, you'd be hot by end of runs...the Sunday we were there it was about 57 out...perfect conditions. Any warmer the snow begins to suck.

A bit late on this last report from Mammoth. After hearing that over 2 feet fell the day after we left we were a bit envious, but Friday 4/2/10 and Saturday 4/3/10 were still good days.

But first of all, what kind of idiot leaves the window open when checking out? Snow had piled in the sill, popping the screen out and building up until it was spilling into the corner of our guest room.

Image

Started with some mellow runs from Canyon to Eagle, then up chair 25 for this shot before dropping down Back For More.

Image

Face of 5 was groomed so I ripped it for the first time and then headed over into the Dry Creek area… Here is a 2 shot Pano I took showing the chair 5 area.

Image

Dry Creek was pretty smooth so I sent the skiers down that way for their first time, but I wanted to mix it up so I came down Triangle for the first time… The snow was good.

Image

Image

A friend of ours having a yardsale there on the right. :haha:

Image

Going down to The Mill on comeback trail, Rodgers Ridge was looking good, but we never came down it.

Image

Braved the winds which were killing the top and went along upper road runner and down toward Santiago… The area near Reds Lake Run going down the back had all of its snow stripped out by the wind making for miserably hard and bumpy conditions for awhile down the back... after aways though the wind died down and the snow was pretty deep and soft still… We hit the steeps in between Santiago and Arriba which was fun for the Snowboarders and a 15 minute exercise for the skiers. You can barely see my friend Jim digging himself out up there in the 2nd one below.

Image

Image

Image

Me enjoying a soft seat off the side of Arriba on the backside.

Image

Saturday 4/3/2010… The top was closed when we first got to McCoy but I snapped these pics… Wow. :allgood:

Image

Image

My first ride up 23 looking down on Scotty’s as the first tracks were getting cut into the windbuff.

Image

Image

I posted up on Scotty’s looking right, left, and straight ahead before dropping in for one of my best runs ever.

Image

Image

Image

Heavy windpack, but good.

Image

Image

Went over to Dave’s next… Below is a 2 shot Pano I put together taken from the bottom.

Image

Met up with this guy Kyle I had been talking with online who has lived in Mammoth for the past few years...Thats him up there about to straight line off the Cornice on the very top of Dave's Run.

Image

Me looking around before ripping into the middle of Dave’s for my first time… It was damn steep toward the top but I accomplished my goal and cut turns the whole way down.

Image

Image

My bro Kyle took us over to the top of chair 9 and down Ricochet for our first time ever… The windpack over there was still fresh as you can see in the 3rd shot below.

Image

Image

Image

My buddy starting down Ricochet

Image

Coming back up for a 2nd run.

Image

Image

Kyle and I on the chair.

Image

Image

Image

Kyle had to bail, so my buddy N'Gai and I met back up with our friends who were beat and going back to the condo… We would have none of that idea, so we spent the afternoon on the lower mountain down around Eagle & Canyon Lodge… Found some great wide spaced tree runs over there.

Image

We even did the Voodoo Chute for the first time. Haha. Kinda cool, but needed some better snow in there.

Image

Image

That pretty much caps my season… I hit everything I wanted to at Mammoth this year, and this last trip was a good ender. No point in riding the So-Cal mountains past their primetime, so I’ll leave the Mammoth memories as my last. Planning to put out another season recap video/slideshow later this summer, which I’ll post up on here for those interested.

Parting shot… see you next season.

Finally gonna cap this thread with the season video... Aptly named "moving pictures" since thats what it feels like... Completely handheld, some shots are shaky, but I'd never use anything that's unwatchable or completely stupid. :haha:

Never had so many technical problems with a video, but I got it done... I did somehow leave off the Tahoe title I had at the very beginning though. :realmad:

And Ian dont forget, you promised me you would record your facial expression when you hear the first song starting. :eyewater: :eyewater: :eyewater: :allgood: And dont gimme any of your font shit Magillig, I used one of the ones you recommended. :coffee:
